The incredibly cute Teddy Guinea pig, also known as Teddy Bear Guinea pig is a breed of small domestic guinea pigs known for its fluffy coat, which makes it look like a living Teddy Bear. Although it looks similar to the Rex Guinea pig, the Teddy has a softer and smoother coat than the Rex and its nails grow faster as compared to other guinea pig breeds. Another distinguishing characteristic is its ‘Roman nose’, which means its snout is turned upward and is rounder and wider than other breeds.
It is thought to have evolved due to a genetic mutation that occurred during experimentation. The American Cavy Breeders Association (ACBA) recognized it as a new breed in 1978.

Keep a pair of Teddy Guinea pigs in an enclosure measuring 30 X 50 X 20 inches at least with a floor space of 1512 sq. inches. A roomy cage with plenty of floor space allows the guinea pigs to play and exercise.
Plenty of timothy hay, about 1/8 cup of high-quality pellets, a moderate amount of treats including chopped carrots, romaine lettuce, bananas, apples, or strawberries per day
Brush its fur every week using a slick rabbit brush to remove loose hairs and debris of dirt from its dense coat.
Take it out of the cage and allow it to run, play, and exercise for an hour or so. Give it some safe toys like chews, balls, or cardboard boxes to keep it entertained
While Teddy Guinea pigs are sold for $20-$30 by breeders and in pet shops, the yearly cost of keeping them is average.
It is an average shedder, but shedding increases in spring and early summer, which can be controlled with regular brushing
